What Teriya means
A name is not a logo. Ours carries a conviction about how a city should move.
We chose the word teriya — friendship, solidarity, what we owe one another — because a ride is never just a trip from A to B.
The meaning of the name
In Bambara and the Mandé languages of West Africa, teriya names the bond between people: friendship, mutual help, the trust we owe each other. It's a word about relationship, not transaction.
We kept it as it is, untranslated, because no other word said as precisely what we set out to build.
What we believe
The city belongs to the people who move it
Drivers, couriers, merchants — they are the city in motion. Our job is to give them fair tools, clear rules and a cut they understand — not to replace them with a black box.
A ride is a relationship, not a number
Behind every trip there are two people. We design for the trust between them: a price agreed together, protected numbers, safety present at every step — never a fare dictated by an algorithm no one can see.
The choice is yours
Fixed price, negotiation or cash; card, mobile money or wallet. Most apps decide for you. We believe it's yours to decide — on every ride.
Why Teriya
Teriya is built for the cities the big platforms treat as an afterthought, not adapted to them after the fact: local teams, prices in your own currency, and mobile money treated as a first-class way to pay. The app speaks French, English and Spanish from day one.
We bet on supply — drivers. The driver always receives the full fare; when a promotion gives a discount, we fund it, never them. And every movement of money is written into a tamper-evident, hash-chained ledger — transparency isn't a marketing promise here, it's the architecture.
That's our wager: a platform that belongs to the cities it serves will earn their trust.

Teriya was born for cities the big platforms have too often treated as one more market, never as a community. We're building the opposite: a platform that is accountable, that protects, and that leaves the choice to both sides of the ride.
